This book a definitely a page turner. I finished it in less than 7 hours. Liz has a way to entrap a person in her writing to make yoy feel like you are a part of the story to make u feel for the characters. True she is an amazing writer.
There are two kinds of secrets. Those that harm, and those that save. "Secrets That Save Us" has plenty of both. The book uses the tragedy of 9/11 as a perfect backdrop for a great human drama. There's enough irony, love and drama to keep most reader's interested (if you are looking for zombies, you'll be disappointed) Without giving any spoiler's, there's a hell of a lot going on here, and it's all believable and unbelievable at the same time, which I love. The ending is one of the better one's I've seen in a long time.
It's definitely a female character driven story, and if I had to assign a genre at gunpoint, I'd go with Woman's Fiction, although there was plenty of male induced stress that kept me interested. I just heard this buy on the radio interviewing the author[...]
Wow Liz, what a truly amazing book. Thank you for sending it. I know I had told you I shied away from the 9/11 based story line type of book because of losing friends to that horrendous tragedy, but thank you for convincing me to read it.
When I first received the package on Saturday, I can truthfully say I had put it aside. Then I got to thinking that since I loved both your other 2 books (especially The Cheech Rom), I should keep an open mind because I really like your suspenseful writing style and I just knew you would keep me interested with a riveting storyline…and you didn’t let me down. So, last night at 10pm I decided to open the package. I realized after reading just the first couple of chapters you were indeed just setting up the background to a truly fantastic story. Once I started to read I couldn’t put it down until the very end, and I can honestly say I don’t regret being tired today. You really made me feel that the bond between Izzy and Piper was dynamic. I was surprised with the direction you brought the story to, and was happily intrigued by the twist of the ending. I can’t wait to read what you decide to write next.
Incredible story. The realness of the dialogue and imagery make for both a compelling and visceral read! Get ready to laugh, cry and cheer as you follow the growth and bond of two sisters while they hold each other up through both personal and nationwide tragedy. 5 well deserved stars!!

Brought back memories of the day in NY on 9/11. Enjoyed the pace. Some characters could have been more developed.
This is a compelling read for anyone who felt the horrors of 9/11 first hand - and an excellent family storyline woven in.
